Roaches and Roaches

When the summer nights are hot and it's dark in the south, the roaches crawl out of the cracks. I remember one time walking outside without a light and hearing the crunch of the roaches under my feet as I walked across the side of the yard.

It seems that when it gets dark and hot morally in this country, the roaches begin to come out. We have an idiot child for a leader who openly proclaims racist and sexist beliefs and supports those who are racist and sexist. Why would anyone be surprised at the results?

If we have any leaders who have moral courage, where are they? Will he not stand up against this Nazi wannabe? We are going down the same path that Germany went down with Hitler yet no one seems to care or seems to believe it anyway. Here is an earlier analogy.

A Slow Death

While in college, we had a black widow spider in a gallon glass jar on our desk. We would feed her crickets and one day, we decided to watch as the spider ate her meal.

Much to our surprise, and unexpectedly, the widow came slowly from the top of the jar down to the cricket, tossed a silk lasso around one of its legs. The cricket did not move, unaware of the impending danger. She repeated this process until the cricket was nothing more than a silk cocoon. She then slowly hoisted it to the top of the jar, where she drained it of all its fluids, leaving a dried-up shell.

A Shell of a Country

Since the founding of the United States, politicians and pundits have warned that partisanship is a danger to democracy. George Washington, in his Farewell Address, worried that political parties, or factions, could "allow cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men" to rise to power and subvert democracy. More recently, many political observers are concerned that increasing political polarization on left and right makes compromise impossible, and leads to the destruction of democratic norms and institutions.

• A new study, however, suggests that the main threat to our democracy may not be the hardening of political ideology, but rather the hardening of one particular political ideology. Political scientists Steven V. Miller of Clemson and Nicholas T. Davis of Texas A&M have released a working paper titled "White Outgroup Intolerance and Declining Support for American Democracy." Their study finds a correlation between white American's intolerance, and support for authoritarian rule. Are we the crickets?

It is time we quit thinking “capitalism” and started thinking “people.” I just saw an article on the news about tons of food being destroyed while food banks have shortages. This is capitalism at its worst. Rather than continue to operate as we previously have, we must change and operate in a crisis mode to provide people with the things that they need besides money. That does help but if there's nothing to buy, why provide it? What we're seeing is a capitalistic system that is so entrenched with making a profit, we may find ourselves profitless and destitute if we don't change our thinking.

Let us not forget that capitalism only survives when there are people to work and buy. Besides that critical point, have we forgotten how to think from a humanistic perspective?

The more I see about this pandemic, the sadder and angrier I become. It amazes me that we can crank out candy bars and all kinds of molded toys but we can’t crank out enough N-95 masks for those who are treating the sick? The only way I can express it is, “What a fucking joke!” We are led by a clown who is supported by greedy, self-seeking subhumans who could provide all the PPEs needed on the planet and never miss the money.

I just read about Dyson’s shift to produce ventilators. Retooled and producing in 10 days! Is producing 15,000 of them and guess what??!! Selling them to the UK!

We are in the midst of a situation that should draw us together to quickly address the needs of our people but instead, disorganization, chaos, and in the midst of it, a self-seeking, boy child who became “president.” We are one big fucking joke…

This has been bothering me all morning. I need to talk about it a little bit. I just read an article this morning and there's something like 25,000 veterans who are serving in the armed forces and they're all getting deported at some point in time, because this stupid ass we have for President decided that he didn't want them in the country; doesn't seem like they matter to Captain Bone Spurs. They enlisted and are fighting for us, but he's not going to give them any benefits and he's going to kick them out of the country when they finish.

This is the jackass who never served because he paid a doctor to diagnose hime with bone spurs and got out of doing any service in the military. Now he's turning on the veterans who were there to serve the country to provide defense and support.

So, what do we do with this stupid son of a bitch? Who's going to be the one who finally says we've had enough of this shit and let's get rid of this monkey-ass moron. I don't see it happening but I wish it would, because it really really pisses me off. I don't have any way to do it that I can think of except for writing and voting, so that's what I'll do. Even though this piece may not make any difference. I still want to do it just for my own sanity. I don't know; it just seems there's so many things that people are willing to overlook because of race and ethnocentrism, and it's really irritating.

Whatever happens from this point forward is on all of our shoulders because we been too eager to serve ourselves and forget that the country needs all of us working together to make it a good country. People here and across the world are dying because of an idiot. We get this Junkyard Dog into the White House who destroys almost everything good that’s ever been done, and continues to do so, thinking that he's right about everything when he's wrong about almost everything. No one will stand up to him because they're all afraid they're going to lose the vote of their moron constituents. Those are the people that I worry about because there'll be around no matter what happens, they will be around after he's long gone. So I don't know, it's really goofy. The world truly is an insane place…

How can any veteran support such a buffoon who seeks his own agenda over the good and security of the nation?

I was watching commercial about the work of Danny Thomas to provide cancer care for children. His daughter, Marlo, was asking for donations to help support the work and I thought about how we focus on the wrong things. What is causing cancer? Not the physical processes but the causes of the physical dysfunctions. We ignore the air, water, food, and even many “medicines” that deliver the deadly catalysts and instead focus on the results.

We always seem to treat the symptoms of deadly disease. I am not talking about a physical disease; it is a psychological one. Whether it be cancer or poverty, it kills legions each year but we continue to focus on the symptoms and ignore the disease.

Greed and avarice form the roots of the real disease, which is manifest through the masses of the non-elite, the excluded, the Other. All the -isms form the symptoms of this disease.

The culprits are those who support exploitation in the name of business ethics. The “green rule” in business is, “Fuck your brother but do so in secrecy so he will not know it is happening until the profit has been made and he cant do anything about it.” Capitalism in the Neo-liberal expression has left us a legacy of death from which we will not recover. We seem to ignore it like the giant elephant in the room because we are subconsciously vested in it either voluntarily or of necessity to survive. From the elite who justifies exploitation to the working class person who cannot destroy the support system, we are all caught in its web. The protesters who still voice concerns are the young and the liberal whites. The first still think they can change the world and the second act from a comfortable, sterilized bubble, unaware of the reality most people live each day. The news channel has spent fifteen minutes focused on the fatalities from airboat accidents. Less than a dozen in the last three years! They stressed the urgent need for regulation in the industry. Really! This is important need to the average citizen how?!

Wow! How about an in-depth discussion of stricter regulation in prescription drugs, something that negatively impacts the lives of millions of people?!

Quit focusing on trivia and get serious about critical issues. All this nonsense does is distract us from the real news.

Every day, those who are the backbone of this country lay their lives on the line, their intention to protect the homeland. Every death is a loss to us all. Those women and men who make that ultimate sacrifice should have done so for the right reasons.

To be led by an idiot who makes decisions based on his bowel movements and a news channel is a disgrace to the sacrifice those men make and brings shame on all of us.

Those who continue to allow this idiocy are as responsible as he is, mores because they continue to let him act out his childish, self-serving, narcissistic whims with no regard for those who are hurt by him. They seek their own selfish agenda and forget that their paths are paved with the blood of the Real Americans.

They are responsible for each and every life wasted for an idiot’s agenda.
