The Freudian Slip or as Bubba Would Put It: A Good Ole Boy Done Screwed Up!

We are in a new era of colorblind racism. Racists, sexists, and other -ists try to hide their true feelings but if you listen, you can “hear” those feelings.

This is a good time to post this older racist pronouncement as it still applies today.

Here is a quote from a Fox and Friends blatherer, Brian Kilmeade about immigrant children separated from their parents:

And on Friday morning [6-22-18], "Fox and Friends" co-host Brian Kilmeade expressed that lack of compassion remarkably clearly. Here's what he said (per Mediaite):
"Like it or not, these aren't our kids. Show them compassion, but it's not like he is doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas. These are people from another country and now people are saying that they're more important than people in our country who are paying taxes and who have needs as well."

Truth Revealed in the Heat of the Moment

Forgetting the broad distribution of news media— duh, it is “broadcasting” —Kilmeade got careless, feeling the loving embrace of his racist buddies, and broadcasted his true feelings in the heat of the moment.

White racists use a type of sentinel behavior to check the status of new White acquaintances. This “sentinel behavior” is a process White racists use to test a newcomer’s loyalty to Whiteness. Conversations start with innocuous subjects and progress to “party line” topics. If the newcomer continues to agree, a sensitive topic is presented. In this way, the White racist can “test the waters” to decide if this is a comrade or someone to be ostracized and excluded.

Oops! Uh, I didn’t mean it…

The crawfish retreat begins:
Kilmeade later apologized for the comment via Twitter.

"Of course-I didn't mean to make it seem like children coming into the U.S. illegally are less important because they live in another country," he tweeted. "I have compassion for all children, especially for all the kids separated from their parents right now."

Caught with his pants around his ankles, he fumbles for some way out of the awkward situation but it is too late. His true feelings have been exposed for all to see.

Like-minded Whites will rationalize this series of events by saying that other Fox and Friends loyalists chastised him for the comment and that makes it okay. Well, most of the chastisement was aimed at Kilmeade’s stupidity by letting others know the hidden ideology of the White racist: anyone not like us is less than us and undeserving of any of our resources. It was not about concern for the kids but about covering up the hidden agenda.

History is in danger of being repeated again in the current events. Rationalization will occur and a year from now, back to square one with no changes. One more shameful mark on the already scarred American Myth.

Time for a brief reference to the Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights (Amendments 1 - 10) | National Center for Constitutional Studies:

Amendment 1
- Freedom of Religion, Speech, and the Press

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Amendment 2
- The Right to Bear Arms

A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

Within the context of the current situation, there is a focus on Amendment 2 but what about Amendment 1? I have seen numerous abuses of that amendment. Citizenship requires an all or none choice to follow the laws of the land.

What I am seeing now is an abuse and disregard for Amendment 1 by the supposed “leader” of the U.S. but it follows a pattern of self-serving decisions that continue to hurt the country. He hates it when someone or some organization refuses to accept everything he says as truth.

Where are the other so-called elected officials, the Senators that choose to ignore the actions leading us to ruin? By no standards are his actions those of a President. They are the actions of a deranged child bully.

What will it take for you equally self-serving “Senators” to take the actions necessary to save the country?

Is He a dumbass or just an ass?

Democratic lawmaker goes on epic rant after GOP colleague admits hiding positive coronavirus test:

"Every single day of this crisis this State Government Committee in Pennsylvania has met so that their members could line up one after one after one and explain that it was safe to go back to work," he said. "During that time period they were testing positive. They were notifying one another. And they didn’t notify us."

"I never ever, ever knew that the Republican leadership of this state would put so many of us at risk for partisanship to cover up a lie," he said during the nearly 12-minute tirade. "And that lie is that we're all safe from COVID."

Rep. Andrew Lewis, R-Dauphin, said in a Facebook Live address Wednesday night, hours after he publicly announced he had tested positive, that he informed as few people as possible about contracting the coronavirus because he wanted to protect the privacy of those around him and because he was only in close quarters with a handful of house colleagues.

So coronavirus has become politicized and the ones doing it have paper-thin excuses for doing so. What an ass! Andrew Lewis gives his excuse for not telling his colleagues he had tested positive, …"because he wanted to protect the privacy of those around him and because he was only in close quarters with a handful of house colleagues.”

Nice of him to want to protect privacy; what about the health and welfare of his colleagues and the hundreds of others they probably contacted in the following days who could have been infected?? And oh! By the way, most of those others would be his political opponents. Any idiot with half a brain could understand the basic transmission process yet this “leader” ignores it.

Two choices.

First, he is woefully ignorant about virus infection transmission. That is hard to believe and if it is true, do we really want someone that uninformed making decisions for the masses?

Second, he intentionally kept quiet, knowing full well he could intentionally infect those of the other party. Much easier to believe, more plausible, and sadly, the new political norm.

The Real Problem in America

Trump’s Fifth Simple Trick for Stealing the Election Will Give You Nightmares—and Tear America Apart:

Everyone knows he’ll cheat. Even his supporters know he’ll cheat. His cheating is one of the things they love about him. So that he’ll cheat—while loudly accusing the other side of cheating—is a given.

There are plenty of concerns in the U.S. but the real problem that will eventually destroy us is the mindset of those in power. Nowhere can it be clearer than it is when watching a buffoon conduct a daily lying session under the pretense of helping the country. Nothing is sacred and nothing is unsanctioned by the worthless hordes entrenched in the ass of a child bully, seeking nothing but power. Like remoras clinging to a shark, they feast on the ravages of the beast.

One more note...

Remoras are almost always white, upper class/upper middle class, men with sprinklings of other race, gender, and SES to camouflage the really animals.

Veterans Day or Just More Bullshit?

We are about to celebrate another Veterans Day and honor the veterans in our country but do we really understand what we're honoring them for?

Is it because they got shot at? Is it because they killed people? I don't believe that's the truth. It's a matter of having gone away from family and friends into a hostile environment to stand for the rights of people in this country and the belief that people can enter this country, become citizens, and contribute to our diverse culture. It's about the right to protest and question our leaders.

Under the current moron, that's a bunch of bullshit! He has no clue what it means to sacrifice for this country. He is a spoonfed child who throws temper tantrums to make himself feel better and demeans others who disagree with him for the good feeling he gets.

Ashamed to be an American today and definitely ashamed to be honored as a veteran today.

The Double Standard

So an interesting story today. Samantha Bee called the little Trumpette, Ivanka, a cunt, a phrase generally used by Trump Monkey himself for all of those women he dislikes. I am amazed at how much news coverage this incident has received yet so little about the pussy-grabbing, racist asshole who occupies the highest office in the land.

To me, the shows a lack of common sense or concerns about the state of the Union. We truly have gone to hell in a hand basket, led by a simian simpleton.

Hide The Protestors

The latest NFL decision follows the typical dominant group bullshit rules to hide the protestors by making them stay in the locker room defeats the whole reason to protest: to let others see the disagreements and maybe, just maybe, ask why they are in disagreement.

Moving toward a Fascist system includes suppressing disagreement of any kind and hiding the protest is a form of suppression. Protesters during GW’s “reign” were sequestered inside a fenced area miles from the entourage.

Not a big deal, you say...what did the German people say when Hitler was doing the same things?

Wake up!

Bubbaville and “Loyalty”

One thing has always been a mystery to me. The three stooges in this house have a rebel flag flying and a pro-TrumpMonkey sign in the yard as if he would give any of them the time of day much less associate with them. So, why the loyalty to a rich–although not super wealthy–1-percenter?

Sadly, the answer is about permissions. His very presence in the highest office of the land gives them and other racist, sexist rednecks permission and license to overtly express their ignorance without fear of reprisals. Their once concealed stupidity is now sanctioned by a self-serving child with obscene power to destroy lives.

Some would say it is their right to express their views and that is a right of all Americans. If that’s all they did, no problem. But it doesn’t stop there. Those expressions of hate for those different people combined with clinging to their white skin makes them dangerous to others and that is NOT a right.

Our country has fallen to a new low from which we may not recover.

TrumpMonkey is a big part but the real problem is the silent acquiescence of those elected officials whose only concern is their self preservation. Sad indeed…

Education or Profit?

Introduction

The free market economy has redefined education. Once upon a time, in a world far, far away, one without neoliberal capitalism and a market economy, a person could get a real education. Whether it was an undergraduate degree or a doctoral degree, it reflected a person's ability to contribute to a field of study with significant research and to develop programs that could improve the state of affairs. Education was considered a state of mind, a lifelong learning process. The educated person's goal was to make the world a better place for all.

There are a few, but not very many, higher education institutions that have given serious thought to what it might mean to be an educated person in this day and age and then fashioned, as a collegium, a serious integrated, coherent curriculum in response to that analysis.  The modern university, with some notable exceptions, has given up trying to define what it means to be an educated person. - via Education Week - Top Performers

All that went away with a market economy that linked education credentials to income and job promotions. Having a degree now means getting paid more money and not about the learning experience. Students get an education today almost the same way they buy new car. They see it as a cash investment over time and expect the product to be there regardless of what they do. College student recruiting strategies have changed marketing strategies. While still promoted as a rigorous but rich journey through the realms of existing knowledge toward new and uncharted understandings that expand the mind and develop socially aware individuals, the hidden agenda focuses on skills training to jumpstart a profitable career.

Academia inadvertently contributes to this shift toward commodification by demanding more academic activities from an already overworked faculty. Many faculty positions are advertised with requirements that are so ridiculous, few applicants could meet all of them. While the intent is to promote creativity and quality, the results are fabricated CVs and rushed, poor quality publications to portray the image of a qualified professional. It is a sham and is growing daily. Further, faculty who persist in "the way things used to be" are finding themselves being marginalized and pushed out of education like outdated equipment, incapable of meeting "production goals." They are like Don Quixote, tilting with the windmill of neoliberal capitalistic profit-based education, in a no-win campaign.

Casting Blame or Distracting Attention?

There is a trend to cast disparagements upon online education, but brick-and-mortar institutions are not exempt from the commodification of education. Universities that once had restrictive policies based on test scores and coursework for incoming students now have open enrollment programs to increase cash flow. Instead of having challenging curricula, they develop programs to accommodate unprepared students who feel that the University is there to provide them a service they paid for. Quality in education may still exist in the minds of some educators but it does not exist in the minds of those decision-makers and administrators who continue to expect more for less in a race to increase profit by increasing ratings and percentages of students graduating while maintaining the appearance of quality.

Roots of the Shift

Changes in the education process are inextricably linked to the neoliberal capitalist system that commodifies everything. It is no longer a matter of quality but is an exchange of payment for goods. The roots of the shift from education as an enriching experience to one about career preparation starts early. As a response to demands for a “bigger bang for the buck,” government agencies under pressure from the neoliberal capitalist business power structure have shifted to an assembly line mentality for education by creating a “quality assurance plan” based on passing tests. Teaching is relegated to filling students with facts and behaviors that are both measurable and meet the needs for compliant, non-creative worker bees.

In 1999, the school board in Howard County, Maryland, removed two criteria from its official policy on determining high school students' grades. You know that neither of them were standardized tests. No, they were, and I quote, “originality” and “initiative.” This school board decided that those two qualities of a student's work were no longer important. They decided this because, they said, it is “impossible” to measure how hard a student tries or if a student's work is original. What they were really saying, and what way too many school boards are now saying, is this: If it can't be measured easily, then we can't care about it, we can't teach it, and we certainly can't determine if a kid has learned it. The solution? Take originality and initiative completely out of your educational goals and just teach to the test.

Legislation like No Child Left Behind, education vouchers, and charter schools have changed the face of education in the U.S. and increased the profits of those investing in the new education system. While there are many "side benefits" for the privileged, there are also many opportunities for profit. A recent report of charter school fraud confirmed the hundreds of millions of dollars that found its way into the pockets of investors. MSN once hosted a discussion of the best investments and charter schools topped the list.

Perhaps guided by the old adage that you have to spend money to make money, the champions of education "reform" have poured billions into the effort to privatize and profit from America’s schools. Those funds are used on multiple fronts: launching charter schools, underwriting the political campaigns of politicians, and of course, investing in media to propagate the free-market privatization vision.

Some Things Never Change

One thing that hasn’t changed in education is the discriminatory practices of the privileged. For generations, racial inequality has persisted as has many other -isms. The principle of excluding the Other is just disguised as a “more efficient use of resources” a.k.a. “make the elites richer.”

Among the many findings of the 36-page report: More than 500 charter schools suspended black students at a rate that was at least 10 percentage points higher than the rate for white students. And moreover, 1,093 charter schools suspended students with disabilities at a rate that was 10 or more percentage points higher than for students without disabilities.

The most alarming finding, the research points out, is that 235 charter schools suspended more than 50 percent of their enrolled students with disabilities.

Conclusion

When a society shifts its value system, two things are certain. First, other things will eventually change or become obsolete. Because the shift is so gradual, it often goes unnoticed by many and gradually becomes the norm. Second, and most important, the dominant group will always benefit. Thus, changing a value system requires strategy, patience, persistence, and power. It also requires "smoke and mirrors" tactics, giving the appearance of one thing while doing something different. People are so busy working and playing, they take little time — or have little time — to research the real issues. Instead, they look for quick and accessible highlights. Many have a false sense of trust for the news media, finding the source that best meets their dispositions and feeding off of it, never checking the validity of what's being told to the masses. Those who do sound the danger alert are viewed as conspiracy theorists or negative thinkers. Just remember this when you encounter the fence...

“Cows have a sense of freedom…until they encounter the fence around the pasture.”
